UbiTalks: Richard Garriott was in Quebec City

On Tuesday, May 2nd, the legendary game developer, entrepreneur and space traveller Richard Garriott was in Quebec City to give a talk to Ubisoft Québec’s employees! The conference was streamed live on the studio’s Facebook page.

Richard Garriott in less than 300 words

Founding father of both the video game and commercial spaceflight industries, Richard Garriott de Cayeux coined the term “avatar”, is the originator of the massively-multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) genre, and his pioneering Ultima series of games has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide. The first American second-generation astronaut, he manned a Soyuz TMA-13 to the International Space Station, where he conducted protein crystal growth and other scientific experiments in an effort to expand commercial uses of space. With his company Portalarium, he currently develop the game Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues.
