Girls, let\u2019s code! That was the keyword of the event Le Code des Filles<\/a>, presented by Ubisoft Qu\u00e9bec at Laurier Qu\u00e9bec on April 6. Organized by students from Coll\u00e8ge Fran\u00e7ois-de-Laval, the event was another way to invite girls to take part in the technological transformation that is currently happening, by initiating them to programming.<\/p>\n

With the support of Ubisoft Qu\u00e9bec and its Ubisoft \u00c9ducation<\/a> program, the organizers have increased the size of their event, which allowed more people to participate.<\/p>\n

For Studio Managing Director Andr\u00e9e Cossette, this collaboration was natural.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was important for us to support those inspiring and committed young women. They are an example of what this generation is made of. With the gathering they created, they were able to make coding more accessible for teenagers and to inspire them. Diversity, in all its forms, can make us better and take us further.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Andr\u00e9e took part in the event by initiating her girl to coding.<\/h6>\n

The attendees also got some surprises at the Ubisoft booth, where they played Just Dance and the Discovery Tour of Assassin\u2019s Creed Origins.<\/h6>\n

The day ended on a high note when our Talent Acquisition Specialist, Emilie Arsenault, drew the winner of the participating prize offered by Ubisoft Qu\u00e9bec.<\/h6>\n

Discover and inspire<\/h3>\n

Over the course of the day, girls had the chance to participate in many activities where they discovered programming with robots and with Scratch.<\/p>\n

\"Le<\/p>\n

Conferences were also presented so attendees could learn more about technology and about the careers of inspiring women.<\/h6>\n

Sarah Dugloud, Gameplay Programmer at Ubisoft Quebec, participated in the \u201cPanel des femmes en devenir\u201d, a discussion between five young professionals in computer science.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy to see the great enthusiasm for new technologies shown by young girls and to be able to share with them my passion for programming. Today, women are under-represented in this field even though it is a job open to all. As a woman in this industry, I think it\u2019s important to show to the next generations that coding is a job for everyone and that girls can also do it!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Some participants also took part in the D\u00e9fi des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations, a competition in which teams of three had to resolve a problem using Scratch. Our Lead Programmer Val\u00e9rie M\u00e9thot was part of the jury that had the hard task to choose the winners.<\/h6>\n
