Quebec City, October 4, 2018 \u2013 <\/strong>The Ubisoft Qu\u00e9bec team is about to hit a major milestone: the official worldwide release, tomorrow, of Assassin\u2019s Creed\u00ae<\/sup> Odyssey. Developed and led for over three years by hundreds of creators at the Saint-Roch studio in Quebec City, the game will propel the franchise to new heights.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the beginning we set really ambitious goals to push player experience even further,\u201d said Senior Producer Marc-Alexis C\u00f4t\u00e9. \u201cWe wanted to revolutionize the franchise\u2019s narrative approach, bring back naval combat, create the series\u2019 largest and most extensive open world ever, and complete the transformation of Assassin\u2019s Creed into a role-playing game. Today I can say without a shadow of a doubt: mission accomplished. The game is an immense source of pride for our creators in Quebec City and hundreds of collaborators in partner studios* around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work these teams have accomplished is simply colossal,\u201d said Patrick Klaus, Managing Director at Ubisoft Qu\u00e9bec. \u201cOnce again, Ubisoft has leveraged the talent, expertise, and creativity at the Quebec City studio to lead an AAA project for one of its flagship franchises. It\u2019s a real driving force in the Quebec City area. A project like this one is an incredible springboard for local talent, a creative challenge for veterans, and a strong incentive that attracts talent from around the world to Quebec City.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Since the game was unveiled at the the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) last June<\/u>, the team has been crisscrossing the globe to meet fans and international press.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe response has been very positive so far and we\u2019re really happy to see players\u2019 reactions,\u201d said Creative Director Jonathan Dumont. \u201cThey like the impact their choices have on the game. They\u2019re going on their own odysseys and interacting with history more than ever before.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In Assassin\u2019s Creed Odyssey, players are immersed in the myths and legends of ancient Greece at about the fifth century BC, in the midst of the Peloponnesian War, which pitted Sparta and Athens against one another. Players choose between Alexios and Kassandra, two Spartan mercenaries sentenced to death by their own families. They embark on an epic journey that will see their transformation from pariah to legendary hero and lead them to discover the truth behind their mysterious lineage. The game will be available October 5, 2018 on Xbox consoles, including Xbox One X, PlayStation\u00ae4 Pro, PlayStation\u00ae4, and PC. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has been optimized for Xbox One X and PlayStation\u00ae<\/sup>4 Pro.<\/p>\n

Room to grow<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ubisoft Qu\u00e9bec is investing $3 million to build a second site in Saint-Roch to accommodate future growth. The new workspaces will add 30,000 square feet to the 70,000 square feet already occupied by its 500 employees. The new space will be located across the street at 560 Charest Est. Part of the team will move in next April, marking a new chapter in Ubisoft\u2019s history in Quebec City.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuccess breeds success. Our aim is to be the lead studio on a number of major AAA productions like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in the coming years,\u201d said Patrick Klaus. So we need the tools to reach our goals.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Last year, in its largest Quebec expansion plan to date<\/a><\/u>, Ubisoft announced the creation of 200 new jobs at its Quebec City studio by 2027, generating an additional $140 million investment in the region.<\/p>\n
