{"id":2238,"date":"2017-05-04T20:46:33","date_gmt":"2017-05-05T00:46:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ubisoftquebec.flywheelsites.com\/?p=2238"},"modified":"2022-05-27T13:08:38","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T17:08:38","slug":"youth-fusion-2017-closing-gala-and-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quebec.ubisoft.com\/en\/youth-fusion-2017-closing-gala-and-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth Fusion 2017: closing gala and winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 300 teenagers participating in the 3rd edition of the videogame creation project by <a href=\"https:\/\/fusionjeunesse.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Youth Fusion<\/a> celebrated their achievements last Tuesday, May 2nd at a gala held at Rialto Theater.<\/p>\n<p>This project, presented by Ubisoft and the Quebec Government, in collaboration with Montr\u00e9al, aims at lowering the dropout rate by offering high school students to collaborate in the creation of a videogame from A to Z. This year, 14 high schools have participated. The outcome: 50 videogames developed on the theme of Quebec stories and legends, and hundreds of inspired and motivated students who thrived on passion throughout the year.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Real impacts<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The two previous editions proved to have real positive impacts on the participants\u2019 motivation and success:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increased attendance in school and interest in class;<\/li>\n<li>Improved academic performance;<\/li>\n<li>Discovery of new careers and educational pathway opportunities;<\/li>\n<li>Better problem solving ability;<\/li>\n<li>Improved social skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI loved learning about game coding. But what captivated me the most was to see how we could achieve such a great result by working in team. I\u2019ve learned to be persistent; sometimes you have to try many things before succeeding. I would love to work in video games later. This project will help me for my future career!\u201d says Olivier Roy, from \u00c9cole secondaire Roger-Comtois.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><strong>Inspiring teenagers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>15 Ubisoft employees in Montreal and Quebec have been mentoring the groups since last fall, providing them with advice and motivation.
