People that are not usually under the spotlight, but that deserve to be known for their impact on the games we create. From that idea, we created the 12 Devs in 12 Months initiative. Until the end of 2020, you will get to meet 12 talented and friendly developers. We start off strong with Catherine Vachon, 3D Animator at Ubisoft Qu\u00e9bec since 2011.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p><strong>\\\\<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>WHAT\u2019S YOUR GREATEST MEMORY AT UBI? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019d say this year\u2019s Christmas party when the boys were singing songs from <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/bs_st_wQviU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Les BB<\/a> out loud. That was my favourite. It\u2019s hard to beat! But there\u2019s also that time when we moved to our new offices. Our eyes grew wide when we finally got to see the new work spaces. It was even more incredible to share this moment with our families. Especially because usually we can\u2019t bring anyone inside our office. I never really asked myself how videogames were made. But then I met Marc-Andr\u00e9 Clermont who was working at Ubisoft Montr\u00e9al at that time. He explained his job to me and I did not understand a thing he said. So I started reading more on it and it instantly amazed me. As soon as I finished my photography course, I got into a 3D animation program and hop! Ubi hired me.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PROJECT YOU\u2019VE WORKED ON? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Black Flag. I was doing cinematics and it\u2019s the first time my work was being recognized. I was really satisfied of what I\u2019ve done. I gave it all! Also, the release of this game was really positive. What more could I ask? Gods &amp; Monsters is also really special for me. It\u2019s a game that is really in our image. It\u2019s incredible to see what all the team did within a short lapse of time. Regarding the animation, it was a big challenge to work on a new style after working on realistic projects for so many years.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>15 YEARS, IT FLIES BY! WHAT WERE YOU DOING IN 2005?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Freshly out of school, I was wandering around C\u00e9gep Ste-Foy\u2019s corridor trying to figure out what I was going to do working 40 hours a week, without getting bored.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>WHAT GETS YOU OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Coffee. It has nothing to do with Ubi but yeh\u2026 Coffee!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>UBISOFT QU\u00c9BEC WOULD\u2019T BE UBISOFT QU\u00c9BEC WITHOUT\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Without <a href=\"https:\/\/ubisoftquebec.flywheelsites.com\/fr\/entrevue-avec-andree-cossette\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andr\u00e9e Cossette<\/a>. I\u2019m aware of what people might think about me while reading this. But I really do think it wouldn\u2019t be the same without her. And I\u2019m not the only one who thinks that! I think the studio\u2019s values are the reflect of the founding members (Andr\u00e9e and Nicolas Rioux) values. I have lots of respect for her and I\u2019m really proud to now call her our Managing Director. She\u2019s just one incredible, inspiring woman.<\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s not only Andr\u00e9e, of course. Ubi Qu\u00e9bec wouldn\u2019t be the same without Pierre-Luc Vachon, Marc-Alexis C\u00f4t\u00e9, Martin B\u00e9dard, Marc-Andr\u00e9 Clermont, Jo B\u00e9dard, Nadina Gafoor, Michelle Plourde, Jeff B\u00e9rub\u00e9, without ME \ud83d\ude1b and so many more people. WHY?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Well\u2026 It seems like I already answered that question. Andr\u00e9e is definitely the person that inspires me the most. But since, there are other people that inspire me at work, I\u2019m just going to throw flowers at some of my colleagues. OK, here\u2019s a top 3\u00a0:<\/p>\n<p>\u279d Sebastien Carrier, a shadow ninja who works his magic in the shadow, a \u201cfinder\u201d of solutions, <strong>a light in the dark corners of technical<\/strong>\u00a0animation, he makes other animators work shine in the calm and discretion.<\/p>\n<p>\u279d Claude Comeau, a demanding leader but also I really warm person who\u2019s always working hard, a perfectionist of nature, this pioneer of UbiMocap is always full of resources with his background of 16 years of experience in the video game industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u279d Mario Brodeur, a true FX top dog. Due to his open-mindedness and his talent, he\u2019s super easy to work with. Nothing can&#8217;t stop this versatile artist to lead his team to the promise land.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING THING ABOUT YOUR JOB?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The times when we receive messages from players saying our games made a difference in their life. It happened with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubisoft.com\/en-us\/game\/assassins-creed-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Assassin\u2019s Creed III<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubisoft.com\/fr-ca\/game\/assassins-creed-syndicate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Assassin&#8217;s Creed Syndicate<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/assassinscreed.ubisoft.com\/game\/en-us\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Assassin&#8217;s Creed Odyssey<\/a>. It\u2019s really flattering.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>WE OFTEN TALK ABOUT THE VIBE AT UBISOFT QU\u00c9BEC. DESCRIBE THIS VIBE IN 3 WORDS.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Pro with a touch of craziness. It\u2019s not 3 words at all! I really failed at answering that question, sorry.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>WHAT WAS YOUR SONG IN 2005?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Duality, 2005, the beginning of a long love story with Slipknot. Not too big, so we\u2019ll still know pretty much everyone, but big enough to continue developing solid game like <a href=\"https:\/\/assassinscreed.ubisoft.com\/game\/en-us\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Assassin\u2019s Creed Odyssey<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/store.ubi.com\/ca\/gods-monsters\/5cec210a39798c0870c07684.html?lang=fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gods &amp; Monsters<\/a>.
