[VIDÉO] Ubisoft Québec Celebrates Its 15th Anniversary!

On June 27, 2005, Ubisoft opened its doors in Quebec City. We started from scratch, with a handful of passionate creators; a real leap of faith! A lot have happened since that first day. 15 years and 31 (soon 33!) games later, we can only be proud of all that we have accomplished.

Several steps have led us to what we are today. There were the first games on DS, PSP, PS2, Xbox and Wii: Rainbow Six Critical Hour, Surf’s up, Open Season, Battle of Giants, TMNT, and of course, Prince of Persia, which was decisive for the studio! Then, in 2010, the first collaboration with Ubisoft Montréal on the Assassin’s Creed franchise, which led to the first lead mandates on DLC, with The Tyranny of King Washington and Freedom Cry. Then, the first leadership mandate on an AAA game, with Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. A pivotal moment for us!

At each of these steps, Ubisoft Québec had the ambition to stand out and do things differently, for the better. What has always followed us through these steps is our determination, our passion, our pride, our humor and our resilience. Above all, our desire to constantly push the envelope and innovate.

All these qualities and all these experiences have led to what Ubisoft Québec is today: a studio that has carved out a place for itself in our industry and which is recognized for the quality of its games. A team that marked a step in the evolution of the Assassin’s Creed franchise with Odyssey. A team, which, for its 15th anniversary, is developing an all-new IP, 100% created here in Quebec City: Gods & Monsters. That’s what Ubisoft Québec is all about!

For our 15th anniversary, we wanted to take a look behind us. Look at the progress made, remember the challenges and be proud of the results. But most of all, we wanted to look to the future. Reflect on what we want to accomplish, together. Share a unifying and ambitious vision for the studio. Our Managing Director Andrée Cossette often repeats it: “We want Ubisoft Québec to be recognized as one of the best video game development studios in the world, not only for the exceptional quality of our games, but also, for our ways of doing things and our strong organizational culture.

It is with this vision that we tackle the challenges that lie ahead. In the coming months, it is not one, but two major projects that Ubisoft Québec will deliver. First, in collaboration with Ubisoft Montréal, we will bring players to the Viking age with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Then, our very first AAA creation will see the light of day: Gods & Monsters.

In fifteen years, we have accomplished great things.

Be prepared, this is just the beginning.
