Today Ubisoft unveiled Gods & MonstersTM, a brand new game conceived, created and developed here in Quebec City, in Ubisoft’s studio situated in the Saint-Roch District. Marc-Alexis Côté, Senior Producer on Gods & Monsters, made the announcement at the very end of Ubisoft’s highly-anticipated press conference in Los Angeles, ahead of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the world’s premier trade event for the video game industry.
After launching the fan-favorite and critically-acclaimed Assassin’s Creed® Odyssey last year, Ubisoft Quebec surprised the industry by presenting a glimpse of their new game, Gods & Monsters, a storybook adventure where players will take on the roll of Fenyx, a forgotten hero, on a quest to save the Greek gods.
“Over the last 10 years, I had the chance to lead an incredible team that pushed the limits of Assassin’s Creed® to explore historical periods from a unique angle. But our imagination has always been bound to the reality of the history books. Through our work on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey these past four years, our minds lingered on another aspect of our history – mythology. The stories of the gods and their misadventures have existed through generations of storytellers and audiences and have transformed into the myths we still know and love today. With Gods & Monsters, those tales take on a life of their own, to become a reality to be explored like never before,”
In Gods & Monsters players embody Fenyx, a forgotten hero on a quest to restore power to the Greek gods after it was stolen by Typhon, the most deadly creature in Greek mythology. Players will explore the Isle of the Blessed and prove their heroism as they face dangerous mythological creatures including fearsome Gorgons and Hydras to mighty Cyclopes. Gifted with special powers from the gods of Olympus, players must overcome treacherous dungeons, challenging trials and perform heroic feats in their journey to defeat Typhon to save the gods. This open world fantasy adventure features a beautiful painterly art style, engaging players in a fantastical world as they use godlike abilities to defeat famed mythological beasts and save the Greek gods in a heroic journey for the ages.
The Ubisoft Quebec team also took the opportunity during the E3 to present Story Creator Mode to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey fans. With this brand-new mode, players will be able to shape their own stories within the game, diving deeper into Ancient Greece with stories crafted by the community. The Story Creator Mode is a quest creation tool that will allow players to build their own playable stories in the world of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a premiere in the history of the franchise.
